Insanity Ensuing | |||
Friday, December 06, 2002 ( 2:40:00 AM ) Miss Scarlet And now I move onto high school where it gets a little more blurred to remember who my "best friends" were because this was when I was a part of more groups and people changed and so did relationships...Here's as best as I can remember: Heidi: I didn't even like Heidi when I first met her. She came from Cedar Lee and actually liked school. I think we became friends in 9th grade world history and then the next year in Mrs. Madden's insane english class we sat next to each other and bonded over the craziness of the experience. I used to get bored and home and I'd call her up and she'd just talk for ever and I'd listen. I loved it, she had an opinion on everything which can be a very cool thing. Now that I think of it, Heidi could possibly read this blog as she has my IM name, Hi Heidi? Anyway, we hung out a lot and her parents loved me so if I was going somewhere Heidi was allowed to. Little did they no, muahah. Just kidding. We were in the popular section of the "smart group" and pretty much ran the show with our other friends as I like to remember it. Our "best friendship" was kind of blurry since we both had other "best friends"...I hung out in a lot of groups (band, tennis, etc) and she was really good friends with Lisa. Heidi influenced my conservatism a lot and a lot of my views on things. Why is it harder remembering high school? We always had classes together and even went to Beach Week in the same group. Then we both went to Mary Washington and I thought it would be awesome. We talked a lot the first semester when I lived in Alvey Hell and she commuted from Bealeton. She even introduced me to Michelle who turned out to be one of my favorite people from my college years. Then she started dating Ryan from the 4th floor and we sort of drifted apart a little. It's hard to even remember when we stopped being good friends. We were supposed to room together sophomore year but with her commuter status we might not have gotten a room so I decided to live with Cara and to be honest I think that was the greatest thing that happened. Heidi and I probably would have still drifted apart and I never would have gone in the direction I did of becoming good friends with Cara, Alyssa, Allison and Andrew sophomore year and then meeting all of those wonderful people Junior year. And without missing Alyssa and Cara so much spring of jr year I wouldn't have hung out with Vanessa so much and probably wouldn't have encountered and become a part of the 451. But I digress....I have some wonderful memories of my friendship with Heidi and we still talk sometimes now. I mean hey, we have to keep alive the memories of Gredler's class, our matching cars, the GOP and countless other things that seemed so important in high school. Cindy: I really didn't like Cindy when I first met her at an All County Band thing bc she was seated ahead of me and I was too competitive to be friendly with anyone ahead of me. I also remember one time she came to *my* pool, haha. Then in 9th grade the results of our first chair tests were announced and I got first chair over Cindy and Emma and I'll be honest with you, I was reallllllllllly excited but also a little scared of Cindy because she was a year older and I thought I was stealing her spot. Cindy, do you read this? So we bonded during Wind Ensemble and then during tennis tryouts (sore spot thankyou) of 10th grade and on the tennis team 11th and 12th grades. I was also really good friends with Rena, her sister. Yay Reens. Cindy and I didn't really hang out much in high school, I went over to their house and stuff though-I usually got lost in the driveway though. Actually my friendship with Cindy actually was best when she was a sophomore in college and I was a freshman bc we talked on IM a lot. I even visted her at Bridgewater a few times....drunken gambling anyone? Oh man...She now lives like 10 minutes from me down here but I haven't seen her yet which is pretty lame. We get along really well bc we have similar senses of humor, we both love tennis and FRIENDS. Cindy, You're in my wedding, ok? Rena: We became friends in marching band when I guess I was a sophomore and you were a freshman? Rena definitely has the other half of my brain, we've proved this on countless occasions such as when we play Taboo or when we laugh at completly random things and noone else knows what's going on. My favorite memories involving Rena are playing tennis in the parking lot bc the courts were too dark, riding the short bus to matches and deciding to be plumbers, eating uncooked ramen noodles during marching band breaks, jamming to The Beatles in the parking lot, wearing Caution tape with Diana and that competition (ha), trying to get kicked out of Pep Band Basketball games, hanging out when you had mono and watching Anastasia, "white" "DOVE!", the swim lessons that never happened (next summer dOOd), frat party at GMU with the craziest Denny's trip ever, seeing the Smashing Pumpkins and starting Juice, the FRIENDS trivia game to see if you or Cindy got the bigger room when you moved, going with you and your mom to see Cindy's tennis matches and singing in the car (even though your mom said I shouldn't sing), discovering the most amazing Hawaiin icees EVER and eating 5 a day the whole week we went to Chincoteage, getting the illegal Corona, saving the day with the vinegar on the beach like we were on Baywatch, making up that 100 question survery (ha), that time you came to visit me at MWC but ended up in Maryland or something, and countless other crazy things. Rena times are the best so I hope to post a lot of them as I remember. We're still friends by the way...My only remaining LHS friend who is actually at best friend status-you're in my wedding too. So stick around til I'm 27. That's it for now, I have to rethink who else I'd put on the elevated friends level. XO, Red College best friends after that. #
