      ( 1:22:00 PM ) Miss Scarlet
As much as I'd love to bare my soul to you all in html form I just can't do it. I mean, cryptic messages sure, but even then it's pretty nerve wracking. I always read between the lines and assume others do too. So, instead of baring the ol' soul I'm going to bare my memories...mostly for my own sake so I can remember things-If you really know me you'll understand since my memory struggles so often. To start off, earlier today I parked behind a car with an "East Carolina Univeristy" sticker on the car and for some reason that brought the memory of my 8th grade best friend to mind who I reconnected with a few years ago but have since lost touch with her. So I'm going to think back to my best friends. Maybe this will be better than me telling you how I "feel", hehe...At the end this could all add up to what makes me "Scarlet"...
Marsha: In 5th grade she was the most popular girl in the grade and even gave some competition to the 6th graders too. I'd always tell my mom how she picked a new "best friend" every day or week or so and the chosen one was escalated onto her level. Well, one day she chose me. And that was the beginning of our awesome friendship which was pretty much based around passing notes. We were totally different-totally. She would tell me about her boyfriends and her stepdad and I would freak out when Harold Webster asked me out over the phone and I think she might have even known of my crush on Terry Utterback which is big since I was super shy and wouldn't have told anyone (by the way, if anyone who reads this knows him, let me know...pretty funny). Our friendship lasted until we the end of 6th grade when we had that ever important summer before middle school and we lost touch. One of my favorite memories is the time I went to her house and we walked to her neighbor's lake and decided it would be a good idea to get in-whhhat? Her mom got pretty mad but I was excited to borrow her B.U.M. outfit, hehe. We also dressed up as dead babies one year which I now realize is really disturbing but one nite at a sleepover we decided the facial masks on our faces looked pretty cool and we were always up for standing out in the crowd. I saw her when I was 19 and working at the Bealeton Station apt pool and her little sister would come swim. It was kind of weird. We didnt really talk much, We hadn't talked all through high school.
Devon:
Ok, So I was a band geek. It was my ultimate goal to be the best clarinet player in Fauquier County and I met Devon in band because she was a suck up to Mr. Edwards and became Band Manager and he loved her so she started out a higher chair than me and even though we had chair tests every day (yes, every day) neither one of us ever missed a day so I could never get higher than her. I was pretty competitive with that. I felt sort of bad the day I got ahead of Emma bc she was out sick but hey, you snooze you lose;) Anyway, Devon and I were band geeks together and were the youngest members (7th graders) in the Community Band and would get together at each other's houses to play duets. I think that's how I improved the most now that I think of it...man, we'd play for hours. We'd also do real things too but her mom was pretty strict so that was a touch obstacle. Actually a lot of crap happened regarding that but I'm not getting into it. There was one time I was called into the Principle's office (!!!) and I saw Devon and Mr. Edwards sitting in there and I knew the rumors had spread to the wrong people about Mr. Edwards "having a crush on Devon". It was so weird bc the principle (who ironically was having an affair with my english teacher) is asking me if Mr. E was ever inappropriate with Devon and she's in the room boring her eyes into me trying to get me not to say anything...but honestly I didn't think there was anything so that's what I said, "Nothing happened and yes, I'm with her all the time in the band room" I think it was an attention thing. But I might be wrong. We even rode the bus over in 8th grade to Fauquier High School to play with their clarinet ensemble(I went to middle school in the metropolis of Warrenton unlike the other half of my elementary school who got stuck at Cedar Lee in Bealeton, ew). We met our match there though with this guy who'se name I can't remember who was so good at the clarinet. But Mr. Sims (my favorite music teacher ever) was the teacher so who cares..this is also where I developed my patented, "We're late?!?! Oh nooo, my watch must have stopped" Haha! We parted ways when I went to Liberty and she went to Fauquier and I think eventually moved to Florida where her dad lived.
Christine:
I had popular friends which is why I have such fond memories of middle and high school. Christine was really cool, one of the Warrenton girls who lived in a cool house and would walk to Jimmy's Markey for ice cream in downtown. Her mom allowed her to cuss and made those awesome cake cookies. I loved hanging out at her house, in fact-I think she only came to my house once or twice. We started our bead jewlery company and would spend hours making things and watching the Might Ducks which we could quote and I think we both loved Joshua Jackson. We would also play Nintendo...I wish I could remember which game. She had a cool room and a cool sister who I don't think I ever met but she just seemed cool and I was jealous of their relationship bc at the time my brother was in the Navy and my sister was too young to be friends with. She was really smart too but in that non-annoying way. I think we had algebra 1 Honors together and she whizzed through. We went to different high schools too and we kept in touch more than me and everyone else but it's just too hard to keep it up at different schools. I did get back in touch with her jr year of college I think and she was going to UVA but yeah, we haven't talked in awhile. I don't think I have her IM name anymore. I wonder what she's doing...
Dorian:
My friendship with Dorian, or Chloe as Ali loves to remember, was probably the most eclectic. She defnitely marched to a different drummer and I did everything to be in step with her. We had one of those relationships where we'd go in our own world and quote things and noone knew what we were doing and she was definitely a big influence on my sense of humor back then. The sarcastic deadpan stuff, I love it. One time we went to the Halloween dance and went as "homicidal maniacs, they dress like everyone else" bc we were into the "dark" stuff, haha. We'd plan days to wear all black and we really loved flannel and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and anything that played at Woodstock. Haha, man. She lived out in Culpeper but since her parents were science teachers at FHS she went to school at Taylor, so I'd just go spend the whole weekend at her house. We would watch MTV all day and she had bunk beds which was so cool. During the summer we both went to SummerQuest which is like mini governor's school and that's when we had our most fun. We both were into dance so along with this girl Sarah we'd be the choreographers for our musical (I went for the Musical Theatre group, duh) and we both had crushes on Trevor I think who was actually dating the daughter of my dance teacher one year, weird. I pretended to be a soprano so we could be together in the chorus, haha. I remember she was addicted to Blistex. She also went to FHS so we didn't get to hang out once 9th grade started. I emailed her a few years ago but since she's graduated college I don't know how to get in touch anymore.

That's it up until the end of middle school I think. I'll have to think more about high school and this is long enough already. Wohoo, this is fun.
xo,
