Memory #342543543:

My family, and by family I mean my mom, dad, brother, sister, and then my mom's 3 siblings and their families, used to go out to dinner for everyone's birthday. Some of the most enjoyable and memorable times were at The Black Orchid that I swear was run by the mob and they would call my grandfather "cousin!"...My mom and I have always joked that my grandfather is like the Godfather. This one time Ali and I ordered a Caesar salad, trying to be quiet about and the waiter came out with this rolling table and proceeded to make the salad right there! And it was HUGE! That same nite my mom tried to slyly order an Irish Coffee and the same waiter, who must have either been bored or new, came out and lit the thing on fire in front of us all! So much for not causing a scene.
I think the most famous birthday dinner was my 4th at Ben and Mary's Steakhouse in Fauquier County. Now, 4 is pretty young to go out to dinner for but it's really just an excuse to go out for a nice meal. Anyway, when it came time for the cake everyone started singing Happy Birthday to me and I....slid right under the table! I was so embarassed because I was a really shy mommy's girl kid. The funniest part about the whole experience is that I think I get at least one joke a year on my birthday about it.
So I just thought I'd share that bc it shows how adorable I am, haha. But for anyone who doesn't know...I dont get embarassed by people singing Happy Birthday to me anymore, in fact I LOVE it. So you guys have roughly 3 weeks to tune up, warm up and sing to me!
Another thing I should point out...I get super obnoxious about it being my birthday and me reminding you right now that its 17 February is just the beginning. One time in high school Rena and Cindy gave me about 5 huge balloons at the Pep Band game the nite of my birthday, and another year I got balloons everyday for about a week, It was insane....and I loved it! This is all probably my mom's fault because she makes sure that all of her kid's birthday's are extra special. I think she's patented the idea of giving a "morning present" and "afternoon present" and then the rest with cake later. It works out really well and don't worry, I do realize it's excessive, haha. Did I say excessive? Because that's a lie, nothings to big for a birthday!
Things shaping up for this years: 13 Feb: Edenpark at Jaxx, 14 Feb: Either Atom at 929 or a Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club function, 15 Feb: A party here most likely (23rd Annual Scarlet Rocks You [Kegger?]), 16 Feb: Hey Mercedes at 929!!!!!!! and the big day.....17 Feb: Either Hey Mercedes again in Baltimore or maybe I'll go chill with my family since I haven't spent my actual day with them since I've been in college...Might be nice:)
SO GET READY!!!!!
